Maven Protocol Part 1

Terms Defined

Maven- a trusted expert in a particular field, who seeks to pass knowledge on to others.

Protocol- a formal international agreement or understanding on some matter.

Our mission as CrossFit Hagerstown is to impart knowledge and practical application of functional fitness that impacts your life for the better.

We're about gathering the best credible information, testing training techniques and hypothesis and passing that knowledge onto you.

Did you know: 78% of all surveys and polls are made up?  For example: when the Knee Protocol for total knee replacements became the standard for more than a decade, it was stated that closed chain therapeutic exercises were best for recovering.  And therapists throughout the world followed this research for years, until a further investigation done of the protocol.  Which was better, closed or open chain therapeutic exercises?  The investigation revealed the original study was only tested on a group of 12 people. 12 people!!! These twelve somehow were suppose to represent the average patient around the world.

What's the point?  You can't always just go with the status quo but test for yourself protocol, test hypothesis and keep a record of your data.

We have all been there.  You don't know how to perform a lift or technique, and what is the first step?  You search on Youtube.  Now I'm not saying that's a bad way to learn, but is the information as accurate?  Or even credible?  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE YOUTUBE.  I post a few videos on the site from time to time but it is not usually the authority on the issue.  Scratch that; most people aren't the authority of the matter.

At CrossFit Hagerstown we are not claiming we have all the answers.  On the contrary we are saying, we are just students but are hungry to learn and progress on our approach to reaching our goals.  We have very few concrete ideas in the Maven Protocol.  We have more concepts that are designed to make you think about how to approach each workout cycle in a objective way, and to continue to expand your base of knowledge and application.

Who can join the Mavens?  Anyone that is eager to learn more about the human body and how it functions in movements, and ones who enjoy teaching others.  Those two requirements must be met.  We are not interested in ones that are just trying to get another training method and put it in their bookshelf.  This is about being part of a interactive network of selfless athletes that are interested in helping others.

What are some parts of the protocol?  It will give an overview of anatomy and physiology, and applied kinesiology.  How to apply concepts to programming and easy to understand exercises for athletes.  Ideas for programming and strength cycles.  Jump- Kip- Do.  Expressing the human body.

If you are serious about being involved or being involved in applied theories, please email us to receive The Maven Protocol Part 1. Email us at crossfithagerstown@gmail.com
