Weak of Emphasis (WOE)- Proprioception. Define- Awareness in space.
Importance- Without it, movements become impossible to properly move. For example, without proprioception in regards to proper seating balance a person may perform lateral flexion to one side without knowing it. The result? The improper seated balance could cause increased lumbar (low back) pain overtime. How is this corrected? By biofeedback which includes visual cues and facilitation.
Where is this found? In physical therapy and also in each CrossFit class you attend. Each time a student is performing a new exercise and trainer comes or to help facilitate a movement your proprioception improves. Increased proprioception is most effective when the student and teacher are working together to get that moment where the light bulb goes on sort to speak. Every class we work hard to try have these movements make sense to you. It's not always easy but practice is the key to learn new skills. It's Monday. Let's go for new personal bests!
